If you’re feeling the impending doom of winter drawing upon us, you can always count on the forward looking Fashion world to get us excited for the next Spring/Summer seasons before we get caught up in the winter blues! For one week we can forget about jumpers and coats and think floral, pastels, and statement patterns.
Having our London office situated right in the heart of the Fashion Capital, we could witness the buzz for ourselves and just turning the corner to Topshop, and passing the brand’s eye-catching video-window display, created excitement around London Fashion Week. So it was not surprising that when we decided to track the buzz on Social media, Topshop were one of the top mentioned brands within this.
London Fashion week gives top class brands and lesser known names the chance to showcase their work in London for the ultimate week of chic! Of course in the world of Fashion, competition is fierce so the inevitable battle of the brands played a great role in the social media hype. A lot of the media has picked up on the battle of the buzz between high-street moguls Topshop and designer brand Burberry. Our tag cloud picked up on both brands and in terms of Twitter mentions Burberry came out on top! Technology giants Apple had a major part to play in this as Burberry upped the ante and took advantage of the upcoming launch of the iphone 5S- capturing moments from their S/S14 collection launch on the most anticipated new smartphone. The brand were actively updating their Twitter uploading photos and videos, captured by professional photographers, on Apple’s latest device. It is not surprising that ‘Burberry’s S/S14 Teaser-Shot with iphone 5S’ has made it into the Ebuzzing labs top videos this month. Take a look at the video below and see how the quality on the 5S really compliments Burberry’s beautiful collection.
Burberry have drawn attention from the star of their runway, Cara Delevingne, as she wowed the crowd closing the showcase of the Burberry Prorsum collection in a sexy yet vulnerable transparent, embellished cape. The official Burberry Twitter page of course captured the moment on the iphone 5S’ latest feature, the HD camera, illuminating the quality of the pastel shades of blues, lilacs, and pinks within Christopher Bailey’s ‘English Rose’ inspired collection.
“It's always one of the most anticipated shows of the season due to the large number of celebrities that sit front row, the massive venue constructed just for this occasion, and, of course, the beautiful clothes that are presented.”- Fashion Foie Gras
Of course, Burberry’s show at Kensington Gardens brought in hot celebrity onlookers such as Harry Styles (Cara’s rumoured flame), who has even made it into the Twitter tag cloud for top mentions. Sporting a Burberry Prorsum leopard print shirt, Harry appears to be establishing himself in the fashion world along with his iconic place in the teen pop arena. A lot of tweets discussed front rowers Harry Styles, Sienna Miller and Paloma Faith. Harry even brought in much of the tweets for Topshop due to his attendance at their show with bandmate Louis Tomlinson.
There was a lot of buzz on Twitter in the lead up to London Fashion week, tweets were escalating each day reaching their peak on the 13th September when the event kicked off and picking up again on the 17th following Burberry’s showcase the previous day. In total we picked up over 50,000 tweets, within this Burberry received 1,104 mentions. However, other brands including Matthew Williamson, Mulberry, and Topshop were still active within the social media spectrum over the course of the event. Matthew Williamson’s Twitter account was one of the top mentioned, though not as active as Burberry with personal tweets surrounding the event.
